Overview

  1. Have students who do not have a computer make posters of solutions to open ended MCAS problems.
  2. Have students who do not have computers write rubrics and grade work they did in class the previous day.

Day 1

One of my classes has more students than I have computers in the computer lab. So when I take my class to work on ASSISTments I need to find something for the extra students to do. Since they are working on the short answer and multiple choice problems on the computer, I thought it would be good to get some open response work in as well.

Today I have 6 students who do not have computers. I have split my student into groups of three and so two of those groups will work on a problem and present the solution on a large poster paper. When they are done, another group will start and they will use that groups computers. I was able to cycle through 4 groups of students today.

Figure 1 shows the MCAS problem I gave them to work on and Figure 2 is an example of the work one group did.
