Overview
- Have students who do not have a computer make posters of solutions to open ended MCAS problems.
- Have students who do not have computers write rubrics and grade work they did in class the previous day.
Day 1
One of my classes has more students than I have computers in the computer lab. So when I take my class to work on ASSISTments I need to find something for the extra students to do. Since they are working on the short answer and multiple choice problems on the computer, I thought it would be good to get some open response work in as well.
Today I have 6 students who do not have computers. I have split my student into groups of three and so two of those groups will work on a problem and present the solution on a large poster paper. When they are done, another group will start and they will use that groups computers. I was able to cycle through 4 groups of students today.
Figure 1 shows the MCAS problem I gave them to work on and Figure 2 is an example of the work one group did.
