ASSISTments is a web based system with a blend of assessMENT and instructional ASSISTance. ASSISTments is a free public service of WPI due to funding from The US Department of Education, The National Science Foundation, The Spencer Foundation and others. It is developed at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester MA in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon University. Researchers at WPI in conjunction with cooperating schools have used the system to build over 4000 problems with extensive tutoring. There are also features including Essay Grading, Parent Notification and Automatic Reassessment and Relearning on our 137 skills. This system is designed to be a tool for Formative, Summative and Benchmark Assessment. Teacher can use the current content or build their own assessments and homework problems. Teachers who use ASSISTments are not changing what they teach or what they assess, they are just making the whole assessment process more efficient for both them and their students. Students and teachers get instant reports on the problem set assigned at home or in school.
